Building Design
After the initial site evaluation, the design process is broken into 3 steps:
- Skematic Design, where your vision, the basic site requirements, plan configuration, access and character are explored. In addition, this is illustrated in a simplified schematic format. This is usually achieved in a “Design Workshop” format where we lay the project out together. Therefore, this is the first phase of pre-construction services.
- Building Design Development is where the design details are presented and reworked until the right solution is achieved. In this stage plans are developed enough and then the final design is agreed upon.
- At the Construction Documents stage the plans go into full production. This is in preparation for review by your local building officials and tradesmen for bidding. Because, when there are structural, electrical, mechanical and other systems, you’ll need an engineered and detailed plan for the approved design.
